Washer repair

Washer won't start in Philadelphia.

A washer that is dead, or that lights up and never fills, usually has a blown thermal fuse, a lid switch or door lock that is not confirming shut, or no power reaching the machine. I find which one it is and fix it same-week across Philadelphia and the Main Line.

Why it happens

Why your washer won't start.

The usual culprits, in plain words. I confirm which one it is before quoting anything.
01

Thermal fuse

A safety fuse that opens after an overheat and does not reset. The machine goes completely dead. The fuse is cheap; finding WHY it blew is the actual job.
02

Lid switch or door lock

A washer will not run until it is certain the door is shut. When that switch fails, the machine simply refuses, usually with no error at all.
03

Power, outlet or main harness

Before anything is replaced I check the machine is actually getting power. A tripped GFCI has ended more than one service call at no charge.

How much does it cost to fix a washer that won't start?

Every visit starts with a flat $89 diagnostic, and that $89 is applied to the repair. Most repairs of this kind start from $245, including parts, and every job is backed 90 days. If it is not worth fixing, I tell you that instead of selling you a repair.

My washer has no lights at all, what is that?
Usually the thermal fuse or the power supply to the machine. Check the breaker and the outlet first, then it needs a meter on it.
It lights up but nothing happens when I press start.
That points at the door lock or lid switch. The control is awake and waiting for a confirmation it is never getting.
Do you carry the part with you?
I bring the parts that fail most on the machine you tell me you have. When it is something rarer, I order it and come back, and you are not charged twice.
